Born April 22, 1931 in Lancer Saskatchewan, she was the youngest of 14 children of Peter and Amalia Degenhardt. She grew up on the farm in the Prairies and in the 1950's moved to BC. It was there she met her husband Ernest and raised her family of eight children. She liked to keep busy and was a hard worker. She belonged to the CWL and Legion of Mary. Jean was a talented musician and singer, playing in her band and church for many years. She was an avid card player, an amazing cook, and enjoyed family gatherings, camping, puzzles and walks. Her biggest joy was her family and she was loving, patient and dedicated to each and every one. She was caring and always made you feel loved and special. A true role model, one we will always look up to. Jean was a woman of strong faith, passed down from her parents. She instilled in us this faith and how important it is.
She is predeceased by her parents, brothers, sisters, her husband Ernie and daughter Janet. Survived by her loving children, Doug (Kathy), Diane (Lyle), Darlene (Wayne), Kim (Ken), Gary (Shelley), Barbara (Scott), and Karen (Mike), 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
A beautiful soul and exceptional human being. Til we meet again in heaven.
