

Josiah "Joey" Andrés Melhado, age 13, passed away December 7th, 2024, in Walnut Grove, Langley. Josiah was born on January 29th, 2011, at Langley Memorial Hospital to Carlos and Christina Melhado. Josiah's first school years were in preschool with Wind and Tide out of the Dorothy Peacock Elementary location. After attending Wind and Tide for two years, he entered kindergarten at Dorothy Peacock Elementary and continued to Grade 7. Then moving on to Grade 8 at Walnut Grove Secondary School.
Josiah was a natural athlete. He enjoyed most sports but loved Judo and skateboarding the most. He had just competed in his first Judo competition, winning all 4 of his matches. At the end of Grade 7, he also competed in North Langley's Track and Field, placing 3rd in long jump, and 5th in high jump.
Josiah loved being with family and friends. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends in person or playing games with them online. Josiah was very social and enjoyed making people laugh and smile. He was kind, gentle, and polite to those around him. He enjoyed camping, traveling and time with his family and was always very affectionate. Josiah had many who loved him. Josiah is survived by his father Carlos, his mother Christina, step-mother Karen, step-father Tyler, sister Sarah, step-sister Katarina, stepbrother Logan, grandparents Carlos Sr. & Marta and grandparents Wendy & Graham. Josiah had the proud heritage of El Salvadorian and Scandinavian parents.
