Julie was 84 years old when she passed away peacefully in Aldergrove, at Jackman Manor. Julie had 1 brother, Gordon and 2 sisters Haidee and Betty and many nieces and nephews. Her parents were Elizabeth and Henry.
Julie’s first marriage was to Arnold Larson and together they had 3 children. Her second marriage was to Horst Buhl, who passed away and she became a widow. Missing her already are her children…Rick, (Kelly) Marty and Susan (Ken) and her stepson, Helmut.
Her grandchildren…Ryan (Sam), Sarah, Jennifer, Matthew, (Alex) Craig and Alaina. And her great grandchildren…Noah, Karter, Olivia, and Grayson.
Julie was born in Vernon, B.C. and lived most of her life in Vancouver, North Delta and Surrey. She also lived for a while in Lytton where she worked with the local church and native band. Julie was incredibly giving and generous with everyone, especially her family. She remembered everyone’s birthdays and loved to bring presents and balloons to celebrate.
Julie was a secretary for the Surrey School Board for many years and was also a clinical counsellor in Vancouver, Surrey, and Lytton. Julie spent a lot of her later years at the Langley Seniors Centre, where she had many friends and enjoyed playing table tennis, sharing a meal, and going on little trips.
She loved to read the newspaper every morning with a good cup of coffee. And she had a big sweet tooth, as her pockets always had a candy in them. It was a family joke that she would often ask for “just a taste”…
Julie was a great cook and loved to have family dinners where she prepared wonderful meals for everyone. Some favourites were her Christmas Chex mix, shortbread, roladin and salsa.
She loved adventures and outings and was part of a 4 x 4 club for several years. Over the years, Julie enjoyed hiking, camping and even skiing. She loved going to her cabin in Lytton and spent many years fixing it up, and enjoying it with family.
In the last 20 years Julie always had pets. She loved her dogs and cats. Skittles and Josie were her companions in her last years. She also loved to play card games, like crib and wizard, and she loved going to see a movie. She also loved to shop…especially for clothes and shoes, often buying the same pair in many colours.
Thank you to the two homes that were caring, kind and patient with her… Sunridge Gardens and Jackman Manor.
Julie’s smile and enthusiastic spirit will be missed. She loved a good hug. Her family will miss her presence in their lives. Julie is now at peace and that is comforting for us all.
There will not be a service. The family is gathering privately to celebrate her life.
