I Miss My Mommy SOOOO much  :'( i wish she was still here...i will never forget about you not even if i lost all memory! i never told anyone this but my friends but....after you passed away i got depressed and i havnt had an apitite for a long time nor can i sleep...i just wish you never got cancer cuz it was soo painful to watch you like that for so long...after you died i didnt want to b alive any more..but justin bieber helped me through that time and heeled my heart up a bit....i know i will always be upset about not having you as im your daughter it hurt me to c u the way u where...and everytime i look back to june 1st i remember how i told you i loved you b4 i went outside not knowing youd be gone forever in like 30minutes..when grandpa told us my heart was smashed into a billion piesces...i dont want to loose dad too but he wont stop smoking even though he talks bout quiting....

Memories from Kim’s mom – Dagmar Stainton

I know that there are many of you that have only known Kim as an adult. I want to share with you some of my memories of her as a young girl.

Right from the the very beginning, Kim was a ray of sunshine to me. When I found out I was pregnant I was so excited, and when they told me it was a girl, that was the icing on the cake. She was a very spirited, gentle loving soul, and what I noticed most about her in the years that she was growing up, is that she was probably the most forgiving person I had ever met.  

Allow me to tell you a little bit about her as a child.  She had her anger, she had her temper tantrums, she sulked, and she was downright belligerent at times. When she would have her temper tantrums I would ship her off to her bedroom because I didn’t need to hear the screaming and carrying on. She would be upstairs, in her bedroom, jumping up and down on the floor as hard as her little legs would allow and eventually the screaming and the bouncing would subside, and then I would hear happier noises and I could tell she was playing with some of her toys. So I’d go up to her room, and of course I’d still be a little bit upset from whatever we were dealing with, I’d go to the door, knock and ask her, “Ok, are you ready to be a good girl?” and she would say something like, “Hi mommy, I’m playing with...” To her it had been forgotten, she got over it, it was done, it was over and I thought to myself, I wish I could be more like that. I found out years later as she confessed to me, that when she was jumping up and down on the floor, her object was to jump through the floor and land in the laundry room or family room down below and that was going to teach me a little lesson. Thank goodness she never managed to do that. 
Kim loved animals; the love of her life was animals. She had to have animals and she wanted to pet every animal. In fact, when we’d go for a walk she would accost every dog she would see.  Of course I’d freak out because some of them were on leashes, some of them weren’t and I didn’t know if one of them was going to jump out and bite her. Somehow she had a way with animals nobody ever did. One day we were driving along, and were just about home, she was in the backseat, (this is the days before the seatbelt law), and all of a sudden she says, “Stop, mommy stop now.” I screeched to a halt because I thought maybe I had run over something I didn’t know about and I turned around and asked her, “what, what’s the matter?” She said, “I want to pat that dog out there.” So I decided we should get a pet of our own and within a month or so we ended up getting a puppy which you’ll see later in one of the films. That was Toby for those of you who remember. Did that change her behaviour, no, she still continued to pet every dog she ever saw, and I still thought, O my, she’s going to get mauled one of these days but you know what, she never did. So as is sometimes the case a mother’s worry is often for nothing.

Kim was a natural mother, and when Kelly was born she was 3 and a half. I think Kim thought that Kelly was hers. She was always there, doing everything for Kelly and we had many discussions about allowing her to do things for herself. All Kelly had to do was look at a toy across the room and Kim would run and get it for her and put it around her. I would tell her over and over again that she must let Kelly do things on her own because if she doesn’t start to crawl and walk she won’t be any fun to play with. One day I was particularly exasperated and I said, “Kim, you are not Kelly’s mother, I am Kelly’s mother.” She looked me in the eye and said, “But I want to be.” And I said, “Well you’re not, you are her sister.” So then she sort of stomped off and she turned around and said, “Well anyways, I wanted a brother.” The outcome of the whole thing as she grew up was that she actually became Kelly’s second mom regardless of how much I fought that, and she was a great second mom. The only reason she was a second mom and not a first mom was because I got to send her to school and then I got to be Kelly’s mom. She also, was an absolutely wonderful sister to Kelly and it was ok that she was mom number 2.
 
Kim was very independent as well. When she went to pre-school she was still four. She turned five in January that year and as the spring rolled around, she declared to me one day that she could walk to school by herself. I said well maybe not. Anyway, when she went to school she didn’t have to cross the street as it was only a couple blocks down the road. After much nagging and negotiation I agreed to allow her to walk alone on these terms. I said, “I’m going to walk you to school because I need to know you got there, but on the days that we agree I will allow you to walk home from school because then I know what time you’re supposed to be here.” So, the first day that we agreed on that she was going to walk home from school by herself, I just happened to take Kelly for a walk, down to the store and then we just happened to go by the school at just the time they were getting out. I greeted Kim and told her that Kelly and I were just going for a walk and that we were just down at the store and thought we’d drop by. She replied, “You said I could walk home by myself.” I told her that I knew that but we just happened to be walking by, “you said I could walk home by myself.” So I asked her if she wanted Kelly and me to leave. She simply replied, “You said I could walk home by myself.” So off we went, and she ended up walking about half a block behind us all the way home but she was walking by herself. That’s my girl.

We continued to have fun together as Kim grew older. One day we were doing the dishes together, she was washing, I was drying, and she had a sink full of bubbles in front of her. Next thing you know we were goofing around with the bubbles, blowing, pushing them on each other’s nose and so on. So finally I’d had enough but she hadn’t, and I told her that we needed to get these dishes finished. Well she kept playing so I said to her, you know if you don’t stop doing that I’m going to take your face and I’m going to push it into the bubbles into the water. She said, “You wouldn’t do that,” and I said, “You want to watch me,” and then she made a fatal mistake and said, “I dare you.” So, I took her head and pushed it down. She did not resist me, I kept waiting, I pushed it down slowly and she still didn’t resist, I pushed it all the way down into the water, into the bubbles and then I let her up and I stood there perplexed wondering why she let me do this and then she got up out of the water with bubbles all on her face, she looked totally amazed and she turned to me and said, “you actually did it”. And I said, “well yeah, why didn’t you stop me,” she said, “Well I didn’t think you were going to do it.” And I said, “But you dared me.” After that, guess who never dared me again? 

Even when Kim was a young child I never quite understood her. She was so different than I was in the way she thought and in the way she faced life, and I must say, I really enjoyed her way of facing life most of the time except for the fact that as a mother it also worried me. I’m more of a worry wart and she wasn’t. She just lived everyday to the max and enjoyed the moment while I liked to plan 20 years in the future and worry the whole time. It occurred to me not very long ago that if I didn’t understand her, she probably didn’t understand me either. Although we didn’t fully understand each other, we still managed to forge a very deep, deep friendship that was based on love and respect. I am so grateful that she was in my life. She taught me so much because she knew how to follow her heart and I didn’t. She was a lovely combination of innocence and wisdom. Even when she was younger, there was such wisdom to her innocence and to the way she followed her heart. She had so much spirit that you couldn’t help but be drawn into the way she was. She loved with abandon, she forgave quickly, and she lived in the present, and I’m still trying to get there. 

Kim my precious child, you taught me well, and I have become a better person because you were in my life. Wherever you are now, I wish you love, health and joy beyond compare, and I will never ever forget you, and I will never ever stop loving you.

I can't believe you passed away four weeks ago to the minute! You were the mother of my children,my wife,my best friend and my soulmate! We love you and miss you deeply but we are also so happy for you that you are no longer suffering or in any more pain! You may  not be with us physically anymore but i see you everytime i look at the kids, everytime i close my eyes,and i feel you in my heart and i hear you in conversations in my head.
Shantel's got her braces off now and graduated to gr.10.Tyson's now thirteen, graduated to gr.8.Brittney's had her dinner/dance, dry grad and graduated from highscool,wow, and she looked absolutely stunning in her dress and cap & gown! Brittney has grown into a beautiful young woman and she has a good head on her shoulders!Boyfriend Darren is a good young man and they looked great together and very happy! Just like  the way we always were, even in the hard times as our love for each other is eternal ! I know we will have rough days still to come but with you in my heart and your spirit in all of us we will make it thru because you would want us to be happy and enjoy life to the fullest ! Kim ,you will always live on thru us.I bet Rosco is glad to see you,please give him a hug for us as i know you've probably done a millions times already! I miss you both so much!
I'm taken the kids up to Whistler for my 43rd b-day (as we normally did at least once a year) and i'll take them zip-lining as we had fun doing! I know you will be with us for this as i'm brinking 1/3 of your ashes (as you and i discussed) and spread them out of the peak to peak gondola. December we and 1/3 of your ashes are going to Hualtuco,Mexico where we had our last all family "big" holiday. The rest of you will remain with us in a huge terra cotta pot with a beautiful Japanese Maple Tree ,there for us to visit you when we need guidance, and to say I LOVE YOU to! 
When its time for me to go it won't hard as i know you will be the first one i will see as i step thru the light!

Memories of Father-in-law Steve Caller

Hi, I’m Kim’s father-in-law and I’m here on behalf of Chris and myself. That girl can sure pack a room. Kim often called me Pops, whether a term of endearment or an illusion to the sound of my aging body, I was never quite sure. 

Chris and I were thinking of all the adjectives we could use for Kimmy; beautiful, happy and loving, spring easily to mind. If you ever needed cheering, a phone call to her would immediately bring a smile to your face as she always sounded like she was laughing when she spoke, even through her illness. If no one was at home and you heard her voice on the answering machine the effect was the same, especially the old message which concluded with, “and we’re probably outside with the dogs,” in that lovely sing song voice. The dogs that ate half her home, she didn’t care and she loved them like her family. Material things were not that important to her, she liked buying them now and again, but they weren’t that important to her. 

Creative and thoughtful also describe her. She loved crafting. She would much rather pick up a glue gun or a jigsaw than a dustpan and brush. She preferred to design and build a set of shelves than tidy them. She kept Simon’s grandmothers in England constantly appraised of her family’s progress with cards, pictures and letters and never forgot a birthday or special occasion. One Christmas, Chris and I arrived home in the wee hours of the morning from a trip to the sunshine about a week prior to Christmas, expecting the house to be cold and uninviting, we found the heat had been turned on and Kim and Simon had put up our 7 foot artificial Christmas tree, but unable to find where Chris had stashed all the decorations, Kim grabbed her scissors, trusty glue gun and boxes of family photos, cut and shaped about 40 of them and framed them with white filigree lace and turned our Christmas tree into a family tree. They’d also put fresh milk and bread in the fridge so we’d have something for breakfast. 

Brave and humorous also, she fought that wretched illness for nearly 7 years with more courage and heart than you can imagine, putting on a brave, happy face throughout for her family so they wouldn’t worry too much. On the final day when she hadn’t the energy to fight anymore, the family sat in dimmed quiet around her bed in the Hospice, whispering occasionally in hushed tones. After several hours, she slowly raised her head, looked around and said, “I’m sorry I’m not being too exciting for you guys.” 

So brave and humorous, creative and thoughtful, beautiful, happy, and loving are just a few of her qualities. She leaves a huge void in all our lives. We will always remember that beautiful, radiant smile that lit up every room she entered and brightened every soul she met, and that smile will remain with us always as a beacon to her memory. Rest in peace Kimmy, you’re loved.

Dear Kimmy will leave a huge void in our family; there was never a faster way to feel good, than picking up the phone and hearing her voice, even whilst going through the illness she retained that beautiful, sing song laughing quality we all so enjoyed. She was a shining example of how to face the world during adversity, and how to leave it in love. She will always be remembered by us, with a lump in our throats, and a deep feeling of loss, balanced by the remembered love and thoughtfullness she continually showed us.

Kim was so very special to so many people.   Kim brought a smile and a ray of sunshine into all of the lives she touched.   No matter what was happening in her life, she always had that beautiful smile.
The first time I met Kim was in May 1988.  I was helping her Dad get the pool ready for summer and we had been at it for several hours.  I was hot, tired, sweaty and dirty.  There I was lying on the pool deck exhausted and in walks this beautiful girl who didn’t care what I looked like and said she was glad to meet me.  Who could do that and mean it but Kim?  What a wonderful girl.  
I have so many memories of Kim.  When she said I was like another mother I was honoured and took it as a compliment but at the time, I don’t think that is how she intended it.  I was nagging her and she wanted me to back off.  I loved her like she was my own daughter.  Over the years as I watched Kim grow and mature I was so proud of her achievements.   I will always love her and miss her.  I know in my heart that she has gone to a better place and we will meet again.  Remembering the times we shared, her positive attitude and smiling face will sustain me until then.  I will cherish my memories of Kim in the years to come.  
Kim had so many friends who supported her through her illness.  She loved and appreciated all of you and what you did for her.  She kept telling me how Blessed she was.  I would like to thank everyone for being there for her.  What an awesome group of people she came to know and love.
My condolences go out to her family and all of her friends who will miss her too.

I loved Kim like a daughter and will miss her every day.  She brought sunshine into the life of everyone who knew her.  I want to offer my condolences to Kim's family and her many friends who will miss her dearly.  "Luv ya always Kim"
