Luka was born on January 4th, 1960, in Novi Sad (Serbia) to Djordje and Dosta, and grew up in Futog (Serbia), where he enjoyed a joyful childhood alongside his sister Marina. From an early age, he was curious, hardworking, and deeply connected to his Serbian upbringing and the values that would continue to define him throughout his life.
Guided by a lifelong love for animals, Luka pursued veterinary medicine at the University in Sarajevo, establishing the foundation of a meaningful and respected career. In 1993, he immigrated to Canada with his family, bringing with him the resilience, warmth, and sense of community that characterized him. Through quiet determination, he built a life grounded in togetherness and the sanctity of home.
Luka cherished his career as a veterinarian at Donia Farms, where he worked with devotion and pride until his retirement. Outside of work, he found peace in nature. Hunting, fishing, and time spent outdoors were not just pastimes but sources of joy and reflection.
Since 1986, Luka shared an inseparable, laughter‑filled marriage with his beloved Ana. Their life together was a testament to enduring love, partnership, and the simple happiness of being with one another. A devoted family man, Luka and Ana created a home that was warm and welcoming to all, founded on shared values of Serbian hospitality and tradition.
He was endlessly proud of his daughters, Marija and Marina, often saying with a smile: “Beautiful like their mom, smart like their dad.” His joy only deepened with the arrival of his grandchildren, each of whom brought him immeasurable happiness. He treasured every moment with them.
Luka is lovingly remembered by his wife Ana; his daughters Marija (Aleksandar) and Marina; his cherished grandchildren Mihajlo, Stefan, Anđelka, and Miloš; his sister Marina (Stevo) and his niece and nephew (Ana and Danilo); and many relatives and friends across Canada and Serbia.
Warm‑hearted, spirited, and unmistakably humorous, Luka shared his kindness, knowledge, and light with everyone around him. He leaves behind the memory of a good, witty, and noble man whose warmth will continue to live on in the hearts of all who love him.
The Funeral Service will be held on February 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church (7837 Canada Way, Burnaby, BC), followed by the burial at 1:00 PM at Sunnyside Lawn Cemetery (14850 28 Avenue, Surrey, BC).
While the family appreciates memorial flowers, those who wish to honor Luka in another way may consider a donation in his name to the BC SPCA or Langley Memorial Hospital.
