Takacs- Maria, born August 13, 1935, in Kispest, Hungary, passed away on May 24, 2021 at 85 years of age in Langley, B.C.
She will be lovingly remembered by her 4 daughters; Maria, son-in-law John Thomas, Elizabeth, son-in-law Richard Holbrook, Irene, Melinda, son-in-law Andy Schmiegel. Grandchildren; Nicole, Robert, Ben, Scott, Steven, Sean, Kevin, Spenser, Lance and Jessica. Great grandchildren; Frida, Leonard, Tori, Scarlett, Everett and numerous relatives in Hungary.
Maria married Ferenc (Frank) Takacs on January 29, 1955 in Dobrokoz Hungary. They left Hungary during the Hungarian Revolution to escape the hardship and came to B.C. in 1957 to start a new life with only a suitcase. They struggled for many years working on a farm and doing odd jobs to get by. Maria was a very strong woman, and determined to give her family a good life. She worked at Royal Columbian Hospital, loved cooking, baking and spent many hours gardening.
She loved her family and will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the B.C. Heart and Stroke Foundation in Maria’s memory.
