One Day! Jesus Called His Name! Mark James Hirsch, Feb 5th, 2024

Psalm 23:6 “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”

Mark was born on July 10, 1965, a very hot summer’s day. My doctor, Dr. Malcolm, was going flying and I begged him not to go until Mark was born. Mark arrived - a healthy, beautiful baby boy - weighing in at 7 lbs 10 1/2 oz.

Mark’s early childhood days were busy and active playing ball, soccer and many other outdoor games. He loved going to the farm to see Granny and Grandpa Christensen, John, Greta and Ella and all the excitement there! He was also a great camper and had a “hey day” camping with Granny and Grandpa Hirsch and all his cousins.

His schooling began in Edmonton and culminated in Camrose. He continued to play ball and also excelled in air cadets. During high school he had a part time job at IGA. He also assisted with the special Olympics for three years and loved every moment of it!

Mark’s working career involved many avenues. He was employed with an oil and gas company as a Reactor Entry Technician which took him to many countries in the world. He also worked as a high rise window cleaner, a landscaper, a baker, and a shipper/receiver.

In his late 30’s Mark became disabled in his mobility. He continued to work with Jim and I in construction in building and renovating homes, landscaping, painting, clearing properties and designing. He enjoyed being the Chief Mower at the Shuswap!

Mark enjoyed the time he spent at the Shuswap. He was “in his glory” driving the quad with his Aunt Greta and Uncle Floyd. He loved cycling in his earlier years when he was able and had a cycling exercise bike at the lake. He shared a love of music as his Aunt Ella does. He loved astronomy and explored the night sky with its stars, galaxies, satellites, earth movements and more. He loved God’s Great Creation! His favorite Gospel Song was “How Great Thou Art”.

In Mark’s lifetime he grieved losing loved ones……Granny and Grandpa Hirsch, Granny and Grandpa Christensen, Uncle John (who nicknamed him Goose), Uncle Ken (who always got him to the airport on time), Uncle Eddy, Uncle Niels, Uncle Howard, Cousin Debbie and Cousin Dale.

He has left behind his Father Jim, and I, his Mother Mary, his Sister Twyla, his Niece Cassia, his Nephew Joshua and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends all of whom Mark loved dearly including his dear friend Cliff and friends Jimmy and Jane and Lisa.

Mark was so generous with his words of love ❤️, telling Jim and I this hundreds of times, and expressing his thanks to us for helping him! We will miss hearing those wonderful words!

Mark, We will love you forever and ever and forever and ever! Amen!
