Matt Smeaton

In the presence of his loving family, Matt passed away on September 24, 2011 at the age of 73 at Langley Memorial Hospital.

Matt was born in Glasgow, Scotland on January 25, 1938. He was predeceased by his father, Alexander, and his mother, Isabella.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 36 years, Linda, his children Neil, Suzanne, Tracey (Graham), Kimberly and Matthew, granddaughters Julia, Hannah, Lucy and Ellie, his brother Ian (Helen), and nieces Kirsty and Fiona. He will also be greatly missed by the Miller family, and his long-time friends, the Szoke family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Henderson's Langley Funeral Home on Monday, October 3, 2011 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Matt's memory to Bladder Cancer Canada, or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

Matt will be laid to rest in his beloved homeland of Scotland in the springtime.

The Smeaton family would like to thank the staff on 2 North at Langley Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care and support, as well as Dr. Stogryn, Dr. McDermid, and Dr. Stewart. The family would also like to express their deep gratitude to Dr. Bacchus for all his wonderful care over the years.
