AVIS DE DÉCÈS
Décédé(e) le 6 janvier 2021
Neil Alexander MacKinnon was born on September 12th, 1951, in New Westminster, B.C, the third child of Rose (Briggs) and Archilles MacKinnon.
Neil departed this world suddenly on January 6, 2021. He is survived by his best friend and wife Colleen, his two loving daughters, Shannon MacKinnon Klitz (Peter Klitz) and Lindsay MacKinnon (Radim Bravenec), Shaun Smith (Amanda Sullivan) and children, grandchildren Dane and Evangeline, sister Gail Arnold (MacKinnon), his brother Bruce MacKinnon (Jennifer), brother Donald MacKinnon (deceased), and many nephews and nieces.
He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.
Neil adored his family and loved his work, having built a well-known reputable irrigation service business which he managed and worked in for 40 years. He was recently retired. He always enjoyed fitness and sports. He loved nature and being on the water.
Neil cherished meeting people, learning their stories, and most of all visiting with anyone…he always had a smile, a laugh, (a sarcastic joke), and advice to share.
Neil will be forever missed; we are heartbroken. We hope to celebrate his life with all his friends and family when Covid-19 restrictions are lifted. Please hug your family, stay safe and be well.

When I was told of Neils passing, I was shocked. I didn't know what to say. I loved the man. I remember so many days I spent in their home. Dinners, laughter, jokes. Teasing Colleen, watch as she pretended to get angry and give us a talking to. He was a good man, with a good heart, and I will miss him. I'm so sorry Neil, but it won't be long before we see you again. Until then take care my friend.

I was so very blessed to to call Uncle Neil my Godfather. My memories are filled with summers at the Glen and dinners at Grandma and Grandpa's. So much time has passed since then but I will always remember sitting on his knee and hearing him call me "squirt." I've never seen him frown, not even once. The perfect uncle. I will miss him so much.

Neil was a great man, always looking out for his people--his wife and best friend Colleen, his family, his staff. He was brilliant at his work too--knew irrigation inside and out. And he was always willing to go on world cruises with Colleen.
This is such a terrible loss. My heart goes out to Colleen and Neil's family and friends.
With condolences and warmest wishes,

I am so sorry for your loss Colleen. I hope you and your family are coping well during this difficult time. I have many happy memories of Neil. And appreciated your hospitality when he gave up his gym for my stay with you. I will call you later when things settle a bit. My love to you and the girls.
