Our mom passed away after suffering from dementia. She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth Kirk and son-in-law Robert (Bob) Palmer and is survived by daughters Penny Kirk (Al Martens) and Kathleen Palmer, son Jeffrey Kirk (Nicolle), granddaughter Jessica Palmer, grandsons Kirk Palmer (Azalea Leo), Brett Martens and Keith Martens.
Mom was born in Saint Boniface, Manitoba to parents Jim and Penelope Cummings, sister to Bob, Marjorie, Jack, Edward and Ron. Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Patricia was in her early twenties when she travelled to Vancouver to visit her lifelong friend Eileen. While there she went on a blind date with a dashing red headed bush pilot named Ken. That date turned into a 52 year long marriage until his passing in 2002.
They built a home in Burnaby in the early fifties but had to move to Prince Rupert for three years where our dad was based flying the Canso for Canadian Pacific Airlines. They returned the Burnaby house where they lived and raised their three children.
Mom and Dad built a vacation home at Deep Bay on Vancouver Island and spent their time fishing and entertaining family and friends. Mom was a gourmet cook and together they had many fabulous dinner parties which were enjoyed by all who attended. She also enjoyed gardening, music and playing bridge. Mom loved to travel and would accompany Dad on some of his flights while he continued flying for CP Air.
In their retirement our parents travelled the world.
May she rest in place.
