Roderick James Caplette

November 18, 1961 – January 24, 2021

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Roderick James Caplette at Surrey Memorial hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in North Vancouver, Roderick is survived by his mother Doreen Caplette. He was a loving father to Travis Caplette (Karyn), and Jessica Genier (Jon); grandfather to Geri-Lee and Anthony Genier. Loving brother to Tobie Caplette, Carol Hill (Terry) and Norma Berrington (Don). A favorite nephew, uncle and cousin to many in the Caplette family.

Rod leaves behind friends and colleagues from his trucking company and his many entrepreneurial business ventures. Rod will be remembered as a gifted storyteller who came by it naturally, recounting stories in incredible detail of local history, mischief, and those he shared experiences with. He will be fondly remembered for his big heart and his willingness to help those in need, including countless animals. Cats, birds, dogs, and racoons; he loved them all and provided a home to many.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Cat Therapy and Rescue Society or consider joining the BC Organ Donor Registry. A celebration of life will be held at a later date on Mayne Island where Rod, his father Jim, mother Doreen, and sister Tobie created some of his favorite childhood memories; a treasured spot where Rod wished to return.
