Born in London England in 1918, Rose immigrated to Canada with her husband and three children in 1956 where they settled in White Rock, BC.
Rose was Brown Owl to hundreds of White Rock girls in the 1950s and 60s, and later took on many roles at the provincial and national level of the Girl Guide Association. She served the Girl Guides for 55 years, was awarded an Honorary Life Membership and Guiding’s highest honor, the Canadian Beaver Award.
Rose and Bill moved to Montreal in 1970, and after Bill’s death in 1977 she returned to White Rock. Rose enjoyed travelling all over the world, but especially loved the lakes, mountains, and beaches of British Columbia. She hiked the mountains of Manning Park, Garibaldi, and nearby Mt. Baker until she was in her 80s. She also loved music, and for many years sang in the Anglican church choirs in Pointe Claire, PQ and White Rock, BC.
Predeceased by her husband Bill and daughter Carole, she leaves to mourn her son Alan, daughter Jean, grandchildren Peter, David and Janice, and great grandchild Kaia. She is also mourned by daughter-in-law Bev, niece Susan and nephew Roy, and dear family friend Liz.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, White Rock BC November 5th at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Girl Guides of Canada or a charity of your choice.
