Marian Evelyn Fitzpatrick

Marian met her husband of 69 years, Warren Joseph Fitzpatrick, at Flushing High School (where she graduated from) and they were wed at Maxwell Air Force Base, AL on May 15, 1943. In 1949, they moved to Japan where her husband was employed with Northwest Airlines. They lived in Tokyo on and off until 1968. During assignments, they also lived in East Meadow, Long Island, Edina MN and Renton, WA. In October 1980, Marian and her husband retired to Whidbey Island: Clinton, WA.

During their years in Japan, Marian was secretary to the Vice Commander of the 5th Air Force, as well as for the Immigration & Naturalization Section of the U.S. Embassy. In the 1970’s Marian was the executive secretary for the Burien School District Superintendent of Personnel.

Marian was active in the community during her years on Whidbey Island. In the late 80’s & 90’s she organized the annual South Whidbey House Tours sponsored by the Republican Party Women’s Club. Marian served as President of the South Whidbey Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO)- Langley Chapter. She was a past member/golfer of the Useless Bay Country Club, member of the South Whidbey Garden Club, the Historical Society and Friends of the Library. She has been a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, Langley, since the early 90’s.

Preceding Marian in death were her parents.

Surviving Marian are her husband Warren, son Dr. Warren “Tod” Fitzpatrick and his wife, Christine Kelly of Westerly, RI, her grandchildren Justin and Becca Fitzpatrick of Fort Collins, CO, Cara Fitzpatrick of Arlington, VA, Evan and Madison Fitzpatrick of Boston, MA and her great grandchildren Riley, Jace and Holland. She also leaves behind her niece Lynn and husband Roger Vehorn of Whidbey Island and their children Ben, Alex, Molly, Julie, Jessica and Abby who were wonderful to her over the years.
