8/20/68 - 03/19/17
Alan Edward Drake passed away Sunday March 19th at the age of 48 after a short illness. Alan faced many trials in his short life and did his best to overcome these trials. In the most recent years, he had finally found love and happiness in his soul mate, Chris. They were married following a brief courtship. Alan and Chris loved camping, large campfires, country music and spent every free moment enjoying the outdoors. His sense of humor and gentle demeanor will be greatly missed. These gifts showed in his deep love of family.
Alan was a certified mechanic and had a brilliant mind for electronics. He loved working on anything mechanical. He had an insatiable curiosity about how things worked and how to fix them. From the time he was a toddler, he could be found carrying a screwdriver and pliers and dismantling anything he could get his hands on. He was often the go-to person on repair questions. He found ingenious ways to obtain the desired result, often using unconventional ideas and "outside the box" thinking. If there was a way for something to be done, he would figure it out.
Alan is the youngest child of Donald A. Drake and Elizabeth J. Drake. He is survived by his wife, Chris Foster-Drake; daughter, Josie Taylor; son, Alan Michael Drake; grandson, Colby; mother, Elizabeth Drake; sisters JeanAnne (Ray) Pettus, Nancy (Bill) Peck and Carol (Ron) Camilleri; brothers James (Cherie) Drake, Robert (Tyann) Drake and Gary (Pamela) Drake and many nieces, nephews and cousins
He is predeceased by his father, Donald Drake; Grandparents Vernon & Lena Drake, and Andrew & Jennie Malone.
The family would like to express sincere thanks to the many people who supported and prayed with and for Alan and his family during this trying time. They would also like to express gratitude to the Henry Ford Surgical ICU in Detroit for their exemplary care.
