

Dr. Alfred James Spagnuolo died in peace at his home surrounded by his children on 3/30/11. Born in Lansing on 9/16/1918 to Francis Paul and Virginia Fabiano Spagnuolo, he is survived by his children Alfred James Spagnuolo (Nancy), Francis Paul Spagnuolo (Renee), Patricia Marie Fox (Steven) and Martha Spagnuolo. He is also survived by his sisters Mary Fabiano (John) and Betty Wichelman (Delbert) and his brother Robert Paul (Ann). Doc Spag?s grandkids are A James Spagnuolo III, Joseph Spagnuolo, Jeremy Spagnuolo, Tara Spagnuolo and Rozalin White. Doc also had 8 great grandkids and tons and nieces of nephews. Doc Spag had two wonderful wives who also preceded him in death. He was married to Helen Louise Grise Spagnuolo for 36 years and Jane Pauline DeRose Spagnuolo for 31 years. Al attended Sacred Heart Academy in Mt. Pleasant and went on to earn his Teacher?s Certificate from Central Michigan University. He fulfilled his dream of becoming a physician at Marquette Medical College in 1943. After college he was a medic in WWII and returned to Lansing to begin his family practice in 1946 where he was devoted to the Lansing community until 1985. During his transition out of family practice he went to General Motors where he enjoyed being an ?Occ Doc? until he retired in 2005. Doc Spag was also Chief of Staff at Ingham Medical and very involved in the Italian American Club, Knight?s of Columbus, Son?s of Italy, Father John?s Fund for Needy Children, Catholic education and took time to have fun on the links. Funeral Services will take place at 10:00AM on Saturday, April 2 at St. Casimir?s Church officiated by Fr. Bill Lugger. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 (Rosary 7:30) PM Friday, April 1st at St. Casimir?s. Arrangements by Tiffany Funeral Home. Donations may be made to St. Jude, Doctors without Borders or the Mason Animal Shelter.
