Ann Rashid

Born January 2, 1929, age 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully on December 28, 2024. She is preceded in death by her husband, John; mother and father, Meba & Tony Essy; and younger siblings Jack Essy, George Essy, and Ramona Riddle. She is survived by her 5 children – Mona Gille, Theresa (Michael) Ramsey, Raymond Rashid, Nanette (Robert) Beck, and Janette (Mark) Brunette, sisters-in-law Elaine Rashid, Sherry Essy, Donna Essy; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Ann was born in Derdghaya, a small town in Lebanon. She and her family moved to Flint, MI when Ann was a young girl. She married John in 1948 and went on to have 5 children. Ann was a devout mother raising her 5 children and working in the Rashid family owned business, Metro Bowl.

Ann was known for her impeccable character, which was due to her devout faith and belief in our Lord Jesus Christ. Her kindness was unmatched and was felt by all who had the pleasure of meeting or knowing her. Ann loved spending time with family. Ann was a great cook and had regular family dinners; however, all were welcome and her traditional Lebanese cooking was a favorite of everyone. She loved her church, St. Joseph Melkite, where she was a member of the choir and the ladies club. Ann loved gardening, needle work, knitting and crocheting. She was also an avid bowler and on many bowling teams over the years. Ann was also devoted to taking care of her son Raymond.

Ann had a love for life and for all her friends and family. She had a unique ability to make anyone feel at ease, welcome, and loved. She will be greatly missed.

The funeral will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, January 4, 2025 at St. Gerard Church, 4437 W. Willow, with visitation from 11:00 am until the time of service. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to Heart to Heart Hospice.
