Arthur age 81, died Monday, November 02, 2015 at home with family by his side. Art grew up in Redford as an avid Tiger's fan and moved to Lansing in 1952 earning his B.S. in 1955 and M.A in 1958 both from M.S.U. He remained a Spartan throughout his life. He was a member of the Pi Mu Epsilon mathematics fraternity. He was a dedicated teacher of mathematics at Everett High School until his retirement in 1988, and he continued to teach at L.C.C. until 2004. Altogether he taught for 48 years. While at Everett, he coordinated the thanksgiving project for 20 years providing meals to needy families. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Patricia. Together they visited most of the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia, and Antarctica. He also enjoyed time with children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at the cottage he built on Grand Traverse Bay. He married Patricia Judson in 1956 and enjoyed 59 years together. Together they were founding members of Delta Presbyterian Church where they served as Elders, Deacons, Youth group leaders and mission workers.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; three sons, Jon (Pamela) of Mt. Pleasant, Tom (Doreen) of Eaton Rapids, and David (Karrie) of Holt; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; sister, Barbara Wilcox; brother, Boyd (Doris) Baker. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Baker, and Irene Baker-Reno, and Seiber Reno.
Visitation is Thursday, November 5, 2015 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Delta Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 6, 2015 at Delta Presbyterian, Church, 6100 W. Michigan, Lansing, MI 48917 with Rev. Wendy S. Pratt officiating. Graveside service following at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A luncheon will follow at the church.
