

Aurora Yatco Bautista was born in the Philippines, the youngest of six children, the daughter of Ignacio Yatco and lsidra Guico. She passed away on November 22, 20I5, at the age of 92. Aurora met her parents’ ambition of having their children attend college. While in college, she married engineer, Rafael Vales and had her daughter,Theresa. She was widowed during World War II, and after the war she returned to the University of Santo Tomas in Manila to finish her degree in architecture. She married fellow architect Pascual Bautista and had son Ariston. She received a scholarship to the University of Michigan and obtained a master's degree in city planning. After returning to the Philippines they had daughter Bernadette. In 1967 the whole family had moved back to Lansing where Aurora worked as an urban planner. She enjoyed her family and her friends in the Filipino community, all of whom were in her daily prayers. Aurora is survived by her children, Theresa (Pete) Katigbak, Ariston (Diane) Bautista and Bernadette Bautista; grandchildren, Brandon (Carol) Bautista, Breanne (Joe) Bedalow, Brittany (Gabe) Viscomi, Brenna (Olie) Walker, Jessica (Mark) Carey, Chris Marsh and Alex Marsh; great grandchildren Ethan, Hailey, Preston, Callie, Daphne, Tessie and Gavin; and numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at St. Casimir Catholic Church, 815 Sparrow Ave, Lansing, MI. Visitation will be from 7:00~9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at St. Casimir with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. The family wishes to thank Dr. Enrique Lopez and Cecille Glatz at Optimum Health Clinic and the staff of Grand Haven Assisted Living Center, and Heartland Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Catholic Diocese of Lansing, 228 N. Walnut St., Lansing, MI 48933-1122.
