Bryan Swinford, 68, a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Bryan had previously faced cancer head-on and defeated it once before, demonstrating the strength and determination that defined his life.
Bryan lived life to the fullest and never slowed down. An avid outdoorsman, he found great joy in fishing, hunting, and traveling to new places. He especially cherished the trips he shared with his beloved wife, Cindy, creating memories together through their road trips and adventures. Deer camp, pig roasts, family vacations, and time spent in nature brought him his happiest moments. He took pride in teaching others how to hunt, fish, drive and properly load a boat—always willing to share his knowledge with anyone eager to learn.
Bryan never met a stranger. He loved striking up conversations and built countless friendships throughout his life. With a big heart and generous spirit, he was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was known for his impressive collection of Coca-Cola memorabilia, taking great pride in preserving each piece and ensuring it was well cared for.
Bryan retired from General Motors as a proud member of the UAW, where he dedicated many years of hard work. True to his active nature, retirement did not slow him down. He later worked at Lowe’s and most recently at Beacon/Dealer’s Choice, always keeping himself busy and engaged.
He was preceded in death by his father, Russell; his mother, Frances; his brother, Russell Jr. “Rusty” and his sister-in-law, Judy.
Bryan is survived by his devoted wife, Cindy Swinford; his son, Basilio Swinford-Bobillo; his daughters, Shannon Smith (Mark) and Angela Holland (Matt); his sister, Marie Swinford; his brother, Dan Swinford; nine beloved grandchildren; four beloved great-grandchildren; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of Lansing Stoneleigh Residence for their compassionate care and support during Bryan’s final days.
A Celebration of Bryan's Life will be held at UAW Local 602 Hall, located at 2510 W. Michigan, Lansing, MI 48917. The service is scheduled for February 21, 2026, starting at 1:00 pm, with food and fellowship to follow.
Bryan’s legacy of love, laughter, strength, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
