Cecil Ford Gilroy

Born August 5, 1922 to Nelson and Ida G. Gilroy passed away July 6, 2011 at the age of 88. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Martha Wilson, Ellen Wilson and Glades Flynn; 7 brothers, Reginald, Russell, Paul, Clarence, Robert, Edward and Willard; second wife, Louise Gilroy; stepson, Jimmie Jimearson. Surviving are Cecil’s 4 children, Catherine Smiley of Holt, Nelson (Judy) Gilroy of Lansing, Roger Gilroy of Holt and Sharon (Al) Ordiway of Holt and their mother, Eleanor Gilroy of Holt; stepchildren, Jackie Jimearson, Barbara (Greg) Mast; 21 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren. Cecil was an Army veteran of WWII. He retired from Shaffer Baking Company where he worked in the fleet services department and previously to that worked at the Diamond Reo Motor Company. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 8, 2011 at Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Home, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to services. Interment will be at East Lawn Memory Gardens in Okemos. Those desiring may make contributions to Eaton Community Hospice, 2675 S. Cochran Rd., Charlotte, MI 48813 in memory of Cecil.
