A proud alumnus of J.W. Sexton High School, Dale furthered his education at Lansing Community College, equipping him with the skills that served him throughout his career. He dedicated many years to the Industrial Metal Products Company (IMPCO) and was an active member of the UAW Local 724, where he advocated for workers' rights and welfare.
Dale's commitment extended beyond his professional life into his service with the United States Coast Guard. His time in the Coast Guard was characterized by a steadfast commitment to duty and honor, traits that he carried into his personal life.
Dale was a beloved family man, survived by his siblings, Durwood (Hilda) and Loid (Sandy); children, Elizabeth Peterson, Mark J. Hawkins (Shelly), Michael Hawkins, Jamie Houghtaling (Bradley); grandchildren, Nicholas (Logan), Aubrey (Dylan), Danielle, Bradley Houghtaling II, Zachary, Allison, Cayden; and great-granddaughter, Ella. He was preceded in death by his parents, Duane and Dorothy Hawkins, and his wife of 42 years, Helen Suzanne Hawkins.
Dale will be remembered for his deep integrity, loyalty, and the quiet strength he provided to his family and friends. His legacy will live on in the lives of those he touched.
