David Lynn Holt

Dave was born on August 21, 1940, in Benton Harbor, MI, to Charles and Lucille Holt. After graduating from Benton Harbor High School in 1959, Dave proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, with tours in Turkey, Japan, and at K.I. Sawyer. It was from K.I. Sawyer that he proposed to Linda (VanDyke) via payphone, and they were married on December 12, 1964. Together they shared the challenges and joys of raising a family, traveling and enjoying breakfast out on Sunday mornings. Their loving union lasted 55 years until Linda's passing on December 11, 2019.

Following an honorable discharge, Dave and Linda took a leap of faith, using the new G.I. Bill to support Dave in becoming the first in his family to earn college degrees at Lake Michigan College and a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting at Western Michigan University. Dave dedicated his professional career to various positions with the Whirlpool Corporation, including at Laundry Group, Clyde, OH, and primarily at the headquarters in Benton Harbor, working in corporate tax and profit sharing/pensions.

Dave's greatest joy and source of pride was his family. He was the proud father to two sons, Steve (Angela) of Clarksville and Blake (Ann) of Holt. Dave cherished his role as Grandpa to Devon (Molly) Holt, Andrea (Jake) Fielstra, and Erin (Mark) Bruey, and Great Papa to Kennedy and Theodore. Dave was often found coaching baseball or soccer, popping popcorn for the Lakeshore Band Parents, or calling bingo for the Stevensville American Legion. He was a steadfast supporter of Linda's roles on the school boards for Lakeshore Public Schools and the Berrien Regional Education Service Agency. He was also a devoted spectator, cheering on his grandchildren at countless activities including soccer, swimming, theater, band, baseball, hockey and softball. Dave was a caring and supportive husband, father, and grandfather who leaves behind an enduring legacy. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In accordance with the honor he earned through his military service, David will be interred with Linda at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 12 pm.
