Deena Jo Carlson

Deena passed away December 28, 2013 under the loving care of her family after a courageous six month battle with pancreatic cancer. Deena was born June 8, 1953 in Springfield, Illinois the daughter of Thomas and Jeanene (Case) Johnson. She married Scott Carlson on June 23, 1990 in Lansing and he survives. Besides her loving husband of 23 years, Deena is also survived by her parents, children: Aaron (Holly) Deckard, and Devon (Ty) Bennett and, grandchildren: Nola and Blaise Deckard, and Alanna, Kendal and Addison Bennett, siblings: Debbie Stroemer, Terry (Denny) Willis, Jennifer Reid and Tommy Johnson, mother-in-law, Peggy Carlson, sister-in-law, Vicki (George) Bork and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. Deena was preceded in death by her grandparents, Russell and Jennie Case, and Ed and Freda Johnson, granddaughter, Tilly Deckard and sister-in-law, Diane Johnson. Deena loved and cherished her family and spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. Deena also loved spending time at the family cabin in Northern Michigan although she never got used to Michigan weather. Her family wants to give special thanks to the nurses in 5West at Sparrow Hospital for the exceptional care she received in her final days. Her family will celebrate her life on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Tiffany Funeral Home, Lansing with Reverend Melanie Baker officiating. Interment Delta Center Cemetery.
