Donald R. Cecil, a beloved member of the Lansing community, passed away peacefully at the age of 75 on May 27, 2024, on his own terms in the comfort of his home. Known affectionately as Don, he leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Don was a man of many passions, each of which brought joy to his life and those around him. An avid golfer, he found solace and enjoyment on the green, embracing the beauty of the outdoors with every swing. He had a natural talent for building and fixing things, relishing in the role of handyman and sharing his skills with others. Don's love for music and laughter was evident in his fondness for putting on his headphones, immersing himself in YouTube videos, and losing himself in the melodies of his favorite music or goofy dancers, he also retired from G2 Secure Staff after 27 years,
His caring nature extended beyond human companionship to the wildlife he nurtured and cherished. Don took pleasure in feeding the animals and found peace in their presence. However, above all else, Don treasured time spent with his family. Whether cheering on his beloved Michigan State University Spartans or simply being together, his family brought him immense happiness and fulfillment.
Don is survived by his loving wife whom he loved for over thirty years, Tammy, who stood by his side through life's journey. He will be deeply missed by his children, Denise Cecil (Andrew Timms), Christina Hartigan, and Danny Nadeau, each of whom he loved unconditionally. Don's legacy lives on through his grandchildren, Ollie, Evy, Anissa, Ariana, Gabriel, Julio, Monae, Kayla, Chase, and Bryan as well as his great-grandchildren, Leonardo and Niko, who will forever hold him in their hearts.
He is also survived by his siblings, Rick (Lydia) Cecil, Krista (Robert) Johnson, Mark Cecil, Johnny Cecil, Mike (Jeannine) Cecil, and sister-in-law Linda Cecil as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alma, and his siblings, David and Karen Cecil.
While Don may have left this world, his spirit lives on in the memories he created and the love he shared. A memorial to celebrate Don's life will be held at a later date, allowing friends and family to come together and honor the profound impact he had on all who knew him.
