AVIS DE DÉCÈS
Donald August Leute
8 avril 1923 – 21 mars 2020
Donald A. Leute, 96, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2020 in Lansing, Michigan. He was born April 8, 1923 in Lansing to Walter and Edith (Warner) Leute, and he served in the US Army during WWII. Don worked at Olofsson Tool and Die for 39 years, retiring May 1, 1988. He was an avid MSU fan, a good bowler, a lifelong deer hunter, and later in life, devoted casino-visitor. He loved making blueberry pies and chocolate fudge, and even stocked up on the supplies to make more this winter. He took great pride in his yard and the farm he managed, and he treasured his Tuesday and Sunday morning breakfasts at the Big Boy in Mason, with Crickett Ketchum as his favorite server.
Most of all, Don was an excellent storyteller. His ability to share a story and capture your attention made him an unforgettable friend to all who met him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Osa (Wasper) Leute; his siblings, June Edington and Alice Fell; and his parents.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Joyce Leute, Jayne Leute, and Alan (Marcy) Leute; his grandchildren, Jaridd, Holden, Madison, and the apple of his eye, Travis; his three adopted grandchildren, Erika, Andrew, and Emma; and his seven great-grandchildren, the youngest of which he was so proud to meet this past Christmas - Maximus.
Funeral Services will be private for the family at this time. A memorial service for friends will be held at a later date.
In honor of Don, memorial contributions may be made to the BVL Fund, 3214 Continental Drive, Lansing, MI 48911.

I met Don through his daughter Jayne & the Sparrow bowling league at Pro-Bowl West. He always had a smile on his face & a story or joke to share. I was amazed at his physical energy & mental awareness at the young age of his 90’s. I pray to be as sharp & active as he was in my 90’s if God sees fit to allow me to continue that long. He will be missed by many. RIP my Friend. 💔😞❤️
