Dorothy Finnerty

Of Lansing, MichiganAge 71, passed away unexpectedly December 5, 2006 ending a rich life that was always centered on family and filled with love. Life a leaf falling on a calm lake surface sends gentle ripples in all directions, her warmth radiated outward in much the same way. She will be missed by those who were touched by the waves, and forever appreciated for her guidance, calming influence, and friendship. Born Dorothy Kirkwood on July 16, 1935 in Pennsylvania, ?Terry? moved to Michigan at a young age. She was a longtime member of St. Therese of Lisieux in Lansing and along with her late husband, David Finnerty, raised twelve children. Together they experienced all the joys that only such a large family can bring. Mrs. Finnerty is preceded in death by her parents, Twila and Theodore Kirkwood; her husband of 51 years, David Finnerty; her oldest son, David Michael; a sister, Faye Hunt; and two grandchildren, Scott Anthony Finnerty and Logan Michael Bentz. She is survived by eleven children and their families, which have grown to include 25 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; brothers, Theodore (Jr.) Kirkwood and Steve (Sharon) Kirkwood; a sister, Betty Roberts, and her mother-in-law, Dorothy Finnerty. Terry?s children are Cheryl, Kathy, Nancy, Patrick, Greg, Lisa, JoEllen, Mark, Traci, Candi and Shane. Visitation will be 6-8pm Friday, December 8, 2006 with Funeral Services at 1:30pm Saturday, December 9, 2006 at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 West Saginaw Hwy, Lansing 48917.
