Age 80, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was called home to her Lord on September 12, 2015. Born February 13, 1935 in Yakima, Washington. Dorothy was a devoted homemaker and raised 6 children, and with her husband, Frank, founded and operated Laverdiere Painting Co. She was an avid reader. She was a charter member of St. Gerard Church, member of the church follies, and was a member of the Mary Magdalene League at St. Lawrence Hospital.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years on Aug. 28th, Francis "Frank" ; their 6 children, Phil (Kathleen), Doug (Tia), Renee (Brendan) Marx, Dave (Dianna), Michelle Pollack, and Paul (Barb) Laverdiere; 11 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Runyon; 4 sisters, Pat Nichols, Ruth Becker, Nancy (Ron) Cornell, and Martha Runyon; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kristen; parents, Gerald & Velma Runyon; brother, John Runyon.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday with a 7:00 P.M. Rosary in the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing. Funeral Liturgy will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, Sept. 17, at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 4437 W. Willow, Lansing with Fr. John P. Klein presiding. Viewing will be from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. Thursday at church. Rite of committal St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Greater Lansing Food Bank or St. Vincent dePaul Society of St. Gerard in memory of Dorothy.
