

She was born on November 16, 1925 to Elizabeth and Joseph Stump. She was raised in Lansing where she lived most of her life. She graduated from Haslett High School in 1944. In 1946, she married our father, Bill, and they were married for 25 years. In 1989, she married Cecil Richards who preceded her in death in 2004. She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection for many years.
She was predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth and Joseph; her sister, Judy; and brothers, Tom and Fred and sister-in-laws, Phyllis Stump and Catherine Stump. She is survived by her brother Stanley Stump, and brother in law Thomas Young, one son, John Parrish; grandson, Cale of Crested Butte Colorado; daughter, Kay Zink (David) of Lansing; step-grandchildren, Mark Zink (Lori) of Holland; great-grandsons, Bryce and Nolan also of Holland, Michelle Earle (Geordie) of Jupiter Florida; great-granddaughter, Sarah; and great-grandsons, Jack and James. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She also had three dear friends, Betty Durst, Gloria Eurich and Dorothy Price.
After she remarried and retired from MSU in 1989, she moved to Wolverine Michigan where she lived until 2003. She then returned to Lansing to be closer to her family where she remained in her own home per her wishes.
A visitation for Dorothy will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with the rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes Lansing Chapel, 900 E Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI 48912. A Mass of Christian Burial will occur on Monday, February 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM, with a 45-minute prior visitation from 10:15 AM to 11:00 AM, at Church of the Resurrection, 1505 E Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI 48912. Following Mass, there will be a luncheon at the church. Dorothy will be laid to rest next to her parents and brother, Tom, at St. Mary Cemetery, 14546 W Price Rd., Westphalia, MI 48894.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dorothy's memory may be made to Mother Teresa House, 308 N Walnut St., Lansing, MI 48933.
She will be missed dearly. If she has brought you laughter, comfort, friendship or love or made you feel that you mattered, then her life was well lived. She will see you again.
