Douglas George Murdoch, 58, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, December 18, 2020 in Lansing, Michigan. He was born to Karl and Maxine (Miller) Murdoch on January 3, 1962 in Lansing. A longtime operations manager at Michigan State University in the Union Building, there was very little that Doug didn’t already know how to fix or couldn’t figure out how to fix, both on-campus and off. He was always helping family, friends, and neighbors with whatever needed fixing. When he wasn’t playing the role of “jack of all trades”, he liked to fish and boat at School Section Lake in Mecosta County, hang out with his family and friends, and enjoy a Tanqueray and tonic sitting at the "Dougout".
He was preceded in death by his father.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 32 years, Stephanie; his children, Gina (Phillip) Kish and Anthony “Tony” Murdoch; his mother, Maxine Murdoch; his siblings, Karen Jones, Ken (Jennifer) Murdoch, Michelle (Marty) Foster, and Chuck Murdoch; his many nieces and nephews; and his two godsons, Ben Murdoch (#2) and Bradley Thomas.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 11am at the Church of the Resurrection, 1527 E. Michigan Avenue in Lansing, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lansing.
In honor of Doug, memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Sheriff’s Association or the Sanctuary Fund at Church of the Resurrection.
