

Douglas Paul Salisbury, 73, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, in Lansing, Michigan. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and lab manager, Douglas leaves behind a legacy of dedication to both his family and the community he served for over four decades.
Born on March 22, 1952, in Lansing, Michigan, Douglas was raised with strong values that would guide him throughout his life. He began his professional journey with an apprenticeship in optical at White-Haines. His commitment to helping others led him to become a lab manager—a role he embraced with compassion and skill for more than 40 years in the Lansing area.
Douglas married the love of his life, Carol Salisbury, and together they shared 53 years of marriage marked by unwavering support and deep affection. Their union was blessed with children Sarah Salisbury, Nicole Nielsen, and Alex Salisbury (wife Mallorie Salisbury), who brought immense pride and joy into Douglas’s life. His grandchildren—David Petersen, Kaylee Petersen, Noah Nielsen, Madison Nielsen, Brooklyn Fuller, Ethan Salisbury, and Cameron Salisbury—were a constant source of happiness and inspiration.
A man of deep faith and proud Catholic heritage, Douglas attended Saint Gerard Church throughout his life. His spiritual beliefs were reflected in his strong sense of family commitment and service to others.
Outside of his professional achievements and family life, Douglas found joy in many hobbies. He was an avid poker player who enjoyed the camaraderie of a good game. He loved gardening and took great pride in nurturing beauty from the earth. Euchre nights were a favorite pastime among friends and family alike. Travel was another passion—he especially cherished trips to Arizona to visit loved ones as well as vacations to Aruba and the Caribbean.
Douglas was also a loyal sports fan who rarely missed a Detroit Lions football game or Michigan State University sporting event. He followed Tigers baseball with enthusiasm through every season.
He was preceded in death by his brother Lowell Pletcher; sister Patricia Blain; father Wesley Salisbury; and mother Josephine Salisbury. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Douglas Paul Salisbury will be remembered for his steadfast devotion to those he loved and the countless lives he touched through both his work and personal relationships. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. A Visitation will be held on January 24, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 01:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Tiffany Chapel 3232 W. Saginaw Street
