Elmer Lowell Hudson, 80, passed away peacefully August 1, 2017 with his family at his side. He was born February 26, 1937 and grew up in Lansing MI. He enjoyed a simple childhood filled with fishing and hunting. Pheasant, rabbit and pan fish were never out of his reach and he shared his bounty with friends and family. He quickly picked up a love of sports and excelled in 4 different disciplines in high school. He continued this passion, becoming a feared hitter in the Lansing men's fast pitch softball leagues with a batting average of .560 in one season. He attended Michigan State College (MSU) studying Civil Engineering and later proudly served in the Navy doing tours in the Pacific and Japan at the end of the Korean War. He carried a lifelong passion for MSU sports, proudly displaying the flag on game days and gathering at the Bath American Legion to share meals and spirits with good friends. Elmer was an avid reader and a master joke teller. He possessed a colorful vocabulary and wit that would bring smiles to all he met. He also loved the outdoors and continued gardening every summer. He was an electrical designer with Clark-Trombley and Hobbes and Black Consulting Firms. He will be greatly missed. Family was especially important to Elmer and he is survived by the light of his life, daughter Kristen Hudson (Nyle Weiler), son Thomas Hudson and former wife Karen Hudson. Celebration of his life will be on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 with visitation from 1-3 and service at 3 PM at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing.
