Erin Alyson Morrison passed away peacefully at the age of 55 onJanuary 4, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland on December 17, 1957 and grew up in Crofton, the daughter of Robert Granger, a distinguished professor of engineering and Ruth Granger (Nickerson).
In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Erin was a nurse of the highest ability, originally starting out as a dialysis nurse before moving onto trauma and neurologic care. She worked at R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, Vanderbilt University, and Queens Medical Center in Honolulu Hawaii, where she was made nurse manager of the trauma and neurologic care unit. She had an associate degree in Nursing from Howard Community College, a Bachelor's in nursing from the University of Phoenix, where she was an honors graduate, and was pursuing a Master's degree in nursing from Michigan State University when she fell ill. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor's Society of Nursing, as well as a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and a fully licensed nurse in Michigan. She also did fashion modeling work, was a gourmet cook, and loved her pets, her shopping, and glamorous wardrobe.
She is survived by her devoted husband of over a decade, Chet, and daughter Alexandre, as well as her parents, her daughter,
Amber (Ryan) from a prior marriage and her brother Eric(Pamela), as well as many loving cousins, aunts, uncles and other family members. Her surviving family wish to especially thank the oncology staff at Sparrow including all the nurses at 5 West, and the deeply caring staff at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan.
She was a beautiful, sensuous, loving woman and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A Memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8th at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave, Lansing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
