Florine Elizabeth Roper

Florine Elizabeth Roper was born to William Yore and Allie Mae Cooper on August 27, 1930, in Lansing, Michigan. She was educated in the Lansing Public Schools and retired from the State of Michigan Department of Natural Resources, after more than 20 years of service. Florine was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.

Florine was very talented and creative. She played the piano and baked outstanding decorated cakes. She also prepared income taxes for anyone who needed her help. She enjoyed family gatherings, especially the annual family reunion at Kensington Park. In her younger years, Florine worked at the famous Black Resort, Idlewild. One year, Florine was named "Miss Idlewild".

Florine was preceded in death by her daughters, Judith Cooper and Primrose "Penny" Green; son, Steven Roper; parents, Allie Mae Cooper, William Yore; brothers, William and Donald Yore; sisters, Ruth Dungey, Francelia Russell, Tessible Simpson, Thomelia Roper, Hazel Williams, Theresa Dinkins, Elise Yore and Margarite Dixon; brothers, Thomas Cooper, Arlington Cooper, William and Jim Yore and former husband, Frederick Roper.

Florine went home to be with her Lord on October 30, 2025. She leaves to forever cherish her memory, her dedicated and faithful sons, Albert "Butch" Roper (Marie) and Frederick Roper (Shirley); son-in-law, Danny Green; her special granddaughters, April Roper-Ford, Eishia Roper, Melissa Green and great-grands, TJ Roper and Zaria Roper; two very special nieces, Bessie Roper and Stephanie Barber; along with a host of grands, great-grands, great-great grands and one great-great-great niece, Essence; nephews, cousins and friends; especially her good friend, Chaney Mae Austin.

Florine Elizabeth Roper was the matriarch of the Cooper-Prince-Riddle family. She would give to anyone in need and was blessed to leave this world debt free. The family was so honored to have had her share some of her 95 years of life with all of us. She will be sorely missed.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from 5 - 8 pm at the Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Home, 900 E Michigan Ave, Lansing, Michigan. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at 11 am at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 5200 Pleasant Grove Rd, Lansing, Michigan, with visitation 10 - 11 am prior to the service at church.

Interment at DeepDale Memorial Gardens, Lansing Michigan.

Florine leaves a legacy of love and faithfulness, and will be deeply missed by family and friends.
