George F. Newton

Born November 5, 1943 in Washington, D.C., the son of Raymond and Arthielia Newton, died May 20, 2012 at the age of 68. George served his country in the U.S. Navy and had been a resident of Lansing for 30 years. He loved bowling and golf. Preceded in death by his parents; surviving to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 23 years, Alice; daughters, Sandra (Todd) Sanders and Shannon (Matthew) Cohen; son, Carl (Fiona) Newton; seven grandchildren; and three brothers. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI with the Pastor Bill VanPatten officiating. Interment will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dimondale with military honors provided. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 from 2:00 ~ 4:00 PM and 6:00 ~ 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
