Gerald D. Rogers

Gerald D. Rogers age 79, died December 16, 2010. He was born February 1, 1931 in Lansing, MI to Dabney N. and Blanch (Hendren) Rogers. Jerry was owner and operator of Building Business Gerald D. Rogers for over 50 years. He also retired from General Motors Parts Division as a Skilled Trades Journeyman Carpenter. Although tormented by the brain trauma he suffered from a serious accident at work, he put up a good fight with the illnesses that resulted from the accident. He loved building/remodeling homes, golfing, fishing, boating, hunting and dancing. The Lord used him as a witness of what great challenges a person can endure. He was a member of Church of the Living Word in Ovid.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Lee (Sandifer) Rogers. Surviving are his wife, Olga Rogers; daughters, Sherry Lee (Don) Moreshead of Eagle Point, OR; Cindy Lou (Mark) Koval of Traverse City, MI; grandson, Mark David VanSyckle of San Diego, CA; great-granddaughters, Jazmine and Chloe VanSyckle; step-children, Bobbie Jo Ormes of St. Johns, Chris (Hillary) Ormes; and step-grandchildren Jack A. VanWagoner II, Wesley A. VanWagoner, Caleb Ormes, Keigan M. Ormes and Brayden C. Ormes.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, December 20, 2010 at Church of the Living Word, 1100 N. Ovid Road, Ovid, MI with Pastor Audie Clairmont officiating.

The family will receive friends Sunday 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Avenue and Monday at the church one hour prior to the service.
