She was born on March 2, 1940, in Jasper Township, Michigan, to Jesse "Pete" Decker and Gertrude (Rauschenberger) Nass. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 32 years, James “Jim” Genson, six siblings and daughter-in-law Debbie Burnham along with several nieces and nephews.
Judy graduated from Ashley High School in 1958 and went on to build a long and dedicated career at Oldsmobile in Lansing, beginning in 1969. She proudly worked there for 30 years to the date before retiring in 1999. She was also a member of UAW Local 652 and the R.E. Olds Transportation Museum in Lansing.
Gerry married James “Jim” Genson on December 11, 1981, in Lansing, Michigan. Together they shared a love of attending car shows, visiting flea markets, and searching antique stores. She was previously married to Charles Dicken of Belding, Michigan, and Jasper Burnham of St. Johns, Michigan.
Geraldine treasured time spent with family and loved planning gatherings, even if that meant planning Christmas in July! She found joy in working outdoors, whether planting flowers, raking leaves, or shoveling snow. She often joked that her hobby was cleaning, and those who knew her understood how much pride she took in caring for her home and family.
She loved dancing, music, card games, weekly BINGO in Mason with her daughter Alena and family friend Jim Case, and was always ready for a game of HuskerDu.
Geraldine was fun-loving, joyful, hardworking, resilient, and determined. She spoke her mind openly, loved deeply, and lived faithfully as a servant of her Lord Jesus Christ.
She is survived by her children, Allen (Patricia) Burnham of Hanover, Michigan; Ronda (Rob) Kowtko of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; Alena Dollarhite of Lansing, Michigan; Jeff Dollarhite of Lansing, Michigan; stepchildren, Julie Genson, John Genson, and Joel (Missy) Genson; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 14 nieces and nephews.
Geraldine will be remembered as a loving, opinionated, hardworking woman whose strength, warmth, and joyful spirit touched everyone who knew her.
