Gonsalo was born January 10, 1933 in Andise, Texas to Juan and Maria (Rojas) Zavala.
Gonsalo was a cement contractor working all over that included a lot of cement work right here in Lansing. He worked in the skilled trade for many years and passing on his knowledge and talent to his son at the very young age of 12.
Gonsalo met Maria Navarro when he was 17 years old and she was 12 years old, they formed a great friendship throughout those years and eventually fell in love and the two were married on July 4, 1954.
They went on to have 5 children which became one of the biggest blessings of his life.
If anyone knew Gonsalo knew that he loved to go fishing and hunting, he liked going to the casino, and that he was known and loved for his cooking. He enjoyed gardening and every year he would tell his daughter, "Mija, this year I'm not putting a garden in!" but every year he was ready to plant his chile pequin, tomatoes, and onions so he would always have fresh salsa.
