Helen Fay Hutchins

Helen F. Hutchins of Lansing, MI, Age 90, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2011. She was born September 24, 1920 in Glennie, MI to William and Pearl Hoskins. She married Russell G. Hutchins on April 19, 1946. Helen worked at Dow Chemical in Bay City during WWII, as a playground parent at Sheridan Road School in Lansing in the 1960’s, Archie Tarpoff’s Catering and the University Club of MSU during the 70’s and 80’s. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and most of all taking care of her home and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and three brothers. Helen is survived by her children, Dennis Hutchins of Lansing and Patricia (Tony) Smith of Vermontville; Grandchild, Christopher Hutchins, Lansing, 2 Step grandchildren, Bryan (Carrie) Smith, Zeeland, and Brett Smith, Ft. Benning, GA; Great grandchild, Briley Rose Smith, Columbus, GA; Siblings, Art (Anne) Hoskins of Tennessee, Wilma (Bruce) Dafoe of Arizona and Edna (Al) Geyman of Arizona and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 900 E. Michigan, Lansing, MI on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 12:00 p.m., with memorial visitation 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. In lieu of flowers contributions in Helen’s memory may be made to Eaton Community Hospice, 2675 South Cochran, Charlotte, MI 48813.
