

Irene Del Rio was born in McAllen, Texas to Marcelino and Isidra Quintero on September 30, 1949. She graduated from Eastern High School and earned a degree in Cosmetology. On October 12, 1969, she married Homer Del Rio Sr. Throughout her life, Irene showcased her diverse artistic talents through various roles, including as a home interior decorator, a published artist in the Hidalgo newspaper for her popcorn sculpture creativity, and as a skilled seamstress.
Irene was a cherished member of a large family, with 8 brothers and 3 sisters. Known affectionately as "Ma" by her children and grandchildren, she was a devoted mother and grandmother who always prioritized her family and friends, generously sharing her time, wisdom, humor, and love with them.
Irene is preceded in death by her husband, Homer Del Rio Sr.; daughter, Marielena Del Rio; parents, Marcelino and Isidra Quintero; as well as siblings, Jesus Quintero, Estella Gonzalez, and Henry Quintero.
Survived by her children, Homer Del Rio Jr (Missy), Connie Del Rio (Daniel), Jan Marie Tyler (Marc), Reynaldo Del Rio (Dawn), Irene Mollitor (Rolland); along with 19 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews (Tia Nena).
The pallbearers for Irene's service will be Mario Del Rio, Jacob Waters, Dustin Woods, DJ Rudd, Josh Rios, Marc Tyler, Rose Mollitor, David Dembeck, and Dro Arambula.
The family of Irene Del Rio expresses heartfelt gratitude to TCOA, hospice organizations, and in-home care nurses for their compassionate care of our beloved Ma.
A visitation for Irene will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with the rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes Lansing Chapel, 900 E Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI 48912. A Mass of Christian Burial will occur on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 11:00 AM, with a one-hour prior visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, 102 W Randolph St., Lansing, MI 48906. A Rite of Committal will follow at East Lawn Memory Gardens, 2400 Bennett Rd., Okemos, MI 48864.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Irene's memory may be made to St. Therese of Lisieux, 102 W Randolph St., Lansing, MI 48906.
