James "Jimmy" J. Chaney, age 75, passed away in Lansing, MI, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and cherished memories. Born to Paul and Louise Chaney, Jimmy entered this world with a spirit of kindness and generosity.
In Lansing, MI, Jimmy found love and companionship in his beloved wife, Debby Chaney. Their union was a testament to enduring love and shared adventures.
Jimmy pursued his education, earning an associate degree in HVAC from Lansing Community College. He dedicated 38 years of his life to Michigan State University, where colleagues affectionately knew him as "Boiler Jim."
Beyond his professional life, Jimmy found joy in simple pleasures. He delighted in splitting wood, indulging in sweet treats, tending to his wood-burning stove, and escaping to the serene beauty of northern Michigan. Despite his occasional hollering at Debby for no good reason, Jimmy's heart was always filled with kindness, and he never hesitated to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Jimmy will be deeply missed by his devoted wife, Debby Chaney; daughter, Jill (Pedro); grandson, Paul (Adrienne); great-granddaughter, Cassie; soon-to-be-great-grandson, Baby C; siblings, Ruth Ann Stranhan (Joe) and Martin Chaney; nieces, Trisha Hampton (Gibby), Terri Ward and Traci Crego; sister-in-laws, Joy Gudge and Vicki Robinson; and cherished friends, Tom Maurer, Ron Williams, Mark Hicks, and Greg Branklin. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Louise and siblings, Denny, Gordy, Ken, and Dotty.
A Celebration of Jimmy's Life will be held at a later date.
