James A. Hamilton

James A. Hamilton joined the Lord for his eternal journey on February 22, 2013, at the age of 82. He was born in Ionia, MI on February 28, 1930. He served in the United States Air Force in Guam with the 3902D Motor Vehicle Squadron. “Jim” was employed at Oldsmobile for over 28 years and retired in 1989 to care for his beloved wife, “Jerry”. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Harold J. and Viola M. (Heilman) Hamilton; In-Laws, Travis V and Erma (Mauller) Durrett; wife, Geraldine (Jerry) M. (Durrett) Hamilton; infant son, Kenney Leroy; infant daughter, Kitty Lee; daughter, Vickie Ann (Hamilton) Henry and grandson, Gregory Morris Putney, Jr. (Chip). Jim is survived by one brother, Robert Hamilton of Harrison, MI; three sisters, Barbara Lewis and Evelyn Moore of Mesa, AZ and Donna Vaughn and Holly McCune of Apache Junction, AZ; three daughters, Erma (Bill) Linn, Roberta (Rick Campbell) and Jamie (Dan) Scaggs, all of Lansing; six grandchildren, Jennifer M. Campbell (Rick Mantcuffel) of Toledo, OH; Meagan A. (Paul) Johnson of Mount Vernon, OH; D. J. and (Amber) Scaggs of Holt; Angela (Todd) Whipple of Lansing and DeAnn Putney; five great-grandchildren; several nephews, nieces, special cousins and dear friends. The family would like to give special thanks to Terry Montgomery for her kindness and wonderful caring friendship. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Maple Grove Baptist Church.
