Janet Kay Ferguson

Janet Kay (Sharkweather) Ferguson, born October 30, 1941 in Lansing, the daughter of the late Leland Joshua and Bernice “Johnnie” (Carter) Sharkweather, passed away on September 26, 2017 at the age of 75.

Janet dedicated 28 years to Beekman Center working with special need children. She loved spending time with her family, traveling and camping.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bobby Sharkweather, Vernon Lloyd Sharkweather, and Donald Sharkweather.

Surviving are her husband of nearly 57 years, whom she married November 26, 1960 at Judson Memorial Baptist Church, Bobby Ferguson; sister, Wonda Starr; children, Michael (Deena) Ferguson, Bethany Martin, Amy (Les) Lewis and Denise (Lance) Bertram; grandchildren, Alissa, Cody, Collin, Hailey, Amanda, Heather, Emily, Anna, Mario, Austin, Taylor, Janet, Amy, Derek, and Jared; great-grandchildren, West, Gaige, Tegan, Alex, Alyssa, Bryce, Rhys, Phoenix, Chyanne, Dakota, Terrence, Brayden, and Jensen (on the way).

Visitation will be Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Service will be 12 noon Friday, September 29, 2017 with visit one hour prior. All services will be held at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes 205 E. Washington Ave., DeWitt, Michigan 48820.
