

Janice Ida Pingston passed away May 25, 2025. She was born August 2, 1933 in Annandale, Minnesota to Elmer and Gertrude (Gille) Campbell. She moved to Michigan in 1942, living in several cities throughout the state. On June 5, 1954 she married Robert Paul Pingston, who preceded her in death. Janice was a talented artist. She created beautiful paintings, ceramics, and handmade birthday cards. She was an avid gardener, seamstress, and baker. For several decades she sold Avon, filling orders until last year.
Janice was a member of Redeemer United Methodist Church since 1969 where she was active in United Methodist Women, Sunday School, and bible study. She loved working in the church flower gardens and helping with several mission projects.
Surviving are her children, Robert (Mary) Pingston, Cindy ( Dale) Young, Yvonne Shumaker, Michael (Jean) Pingston, and Steven (Julie) Pingston; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brother, Gilbert; sisters Joan and Patricia. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Robert and Milton; sister, Carol; son-in-law, David; great-grandson Wyatt.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Redeemer United Methodist Church, 13980 Schavey Rd, DeWitt, with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service. A luncheon will follow. Interment will take place at a later date at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
