Jill B (Gogarn) McCoy was born July 17, 1951, at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan, to Robert Paul Gogarn and Jean Sanford Gogarn. Her life came full circle on Saturday, October 20, 2018, when her life ended at Sparrow’s Hospice House of Lansing surrounded by loved ones.
Jill and Timothy Jay McCoy wed on July 17, 1970, and were married for 32 years. Their time was cut short when Tim passed away unexpectedly in 2002. Together Jill and Tim raised two sons, Todd Jeremy McCoy (Lisa), Joshua Bradley McCoy (Kim) and were blessed with five grandchildren: Brent, Kaela, Elex, Austin, and Jaxen.
Jill is also preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brother, Gary Gogarn (Heidi) and two sisters Sally Lankton and Kit Marks (Jon), and many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Jill will be remembered for her sense of fun and willing helpfulness. Those who love her knew her to be generous to a fault and always ready to lend a hand. Jill frequently shared her creative gifts with family and friends through her crafts including handmade cards. She especially loved the many hours spent with her mother and twin sister, Kit, on one large project or another; a handmade quilt for a special occasion or baby shower, a dozen soldier hats for a school musical, a special party dress, countless handmade Halloween costumes. And few things gave Jill more pleasure then planning a grandchild’s special birthday party, or a neighborhood dinner, or cooking for a crowd.
Jill volunteered and worked for St. Thomas Aquinas Church and School in East Lansing, for many years where, among many other things, she helped countless children prepare for First Communion and Confirmation.

Funeral service at Gorsline Runciman Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
Visitation Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday beginning at 1:30 p.m.
