Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was surrounded by her family when she went home to be with our Lord on September 18, 2012 at the age of 77. Born January 23, 1935 in Cincinnati, OH. Joan attended Holy Cross School, graduated in 1953 from Sexton High School, and attended M.S.U. She loved golfing and enjoyed playing bridge. She was a member of St. Gerard Church, and past member of the St. Lawrence Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Douglas W. Harper; her children, Susan (John) Lotus, Julie (Ross) Wilt, and Brian (Diana) Harper; 10 grandchildren, Michelle (Michael) Monson, Jennifer Harper, Christopher Harper, Eric Wilt, Kelly Wilt, Carolyn Wilt, Collin Lotus, Grant Lotus, Kyle Harper, and Lahna Harper; 2 great-grandchildren, Joshua and Isabella Monson; and many nieces-
., nephews, and friends. Joan was preceded in death by her sons, Kenneth in 1986 and Michael in 2005; parents, John & Norma Niehaus; sister, Norma Decker; and 3 brothers, Richard, Robert, and Roger Niehaus.
Visitation is from 2-4, 6-8 P.M. Friday with a 7:00 P.M. Vigil Rosary in the Tiffany funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing. Funeral Liturgy is 10:00 A.M. Saturday 22, at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 4437 W. Willow, Lansing with Fr. John P. Klein Presiding. Viewing will be from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Saturday at church. Rite of committal Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
