John was the devoted husband of the late Barbara Ditzhazy, the love of his life. Their story began at Western High School in Detroit, continued through their years together at the University of Michigan, and grew into a lifelong partnership marked by deep affection, adventure, and unwavering support for one another.
Born on February 2, 1939, John was the son of Mary and John Ditzhazy, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his niece, Mary Napier-Hoeh; great-nephew, Gavin Hoeh; his sister, Mary Ann Boucher; and nephews, James Boucher and John Morris Boucher.
John pursued higher education with pride, earning degrees from both the University of Michigan and Michigan State University. He served honorably in the United States Army from 1964 to 1969, spending much of his service stationed in Germany, where Barbara joined him. Their years abroad became some of the most cherished memories of their life together.
John and Barbara settled in the Westside neighborhood, where they lovingly cared for their nearly century-old home. Their shared passion for aviation was a defining part of their lives—they were both avid pilots and owned a small plane for many years, embracing the freedom and excitement of flight as a team.
John dedicated himself fully to his work and to serving others. He was known for his integrity, his kindness, and his quiet, steady commitment to helping those around him.
He will be remembered with deep affection and gratitude by all who knew him.
