

John Gabriel GaskinOwosso, MIAge 49, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 30, 2009. John, “JGG” was born in Lansing, MI, on March 3, 1960, the 4th of 6 children of Roy and Mafalda Jeanne (Martelletti) Gaskin. He was married to his loving wife, Carol Erbskorn, in Lansing and was an incredibly devoted husband for over 15 years. John was an extremely proud and loving father to his two children, Gabriel James, age 10, and Lauren Alexandra, age 6. He graduated from Lansing Catholic Central High School in 1978, and attended Lansing Community College. He joined Sparrow Hospital in 1979, in Security, where he had worked for over 30 years. John also worked at Macy’s (formerly Hudson’s and Marshall Fields) in various capacities for 25 years. John was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Owosso, MI, where his children currently attend school. He touched many lives, both in his position at Sparrow, and in his personal life with his close family and many friends. John had a huge heart, a generous soul, and a kind word for everybody. He was known everywhere he went for his loving and caring demeanor, and especially for his big hugs. Everybody’s day was made better by a hug and greeting from John, and none of our lives will be the same without him. John’s legacy will be his and Carol’s wonderful children, with whom he spent countless hours devoted to their many school and extracurricular activities. John was preceded in death by his brother, Scott Michael Gaskin. Surviving, along with his wife and children, are his brothers, Dennis, Tom and Patrick (Emily) and sister, MaryJo. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 3, at 11 a.m. at Church of the Resurrection, 1531 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing. The Rite of Committal will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lansing. The family will receive friends at the Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where the Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the family for the education of his children, c/o the funeral home.
