John Abraham Rashid

Lansing

Age 86, went to be with the Lord on December 30, 2013. Born February 12, 1927 in Detroit, MI. John along with his mother and brothers were owners and operators of Metro Bowl in Lansing for many years. He was inducted into the Lansing Bowling Hall of Fame for his meritorious service to the bowling community. He was an active member and past board member of St. Joseph Melkite Church, past-president of Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau; member of the Magicians Guild. He was an avid Bass Fisherman and started Lansing Bass Fisherman's Club and served as president. He was an actor preforming at M.S.U. and with the Lansing Civic Players. He was a veteran having served with the U.S. Marine Corps.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Ann T. Rashid; 5 children, Mona Gille, Theresa (Michael) Ramsey, Raymond Rashid, Nanette (Robert) Beck, and Janette (Mark) Brunette; 13 grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric) VanCalCar, Caleb Gille, Katelyn Gille, Kyle (Adam) Randall, Rebecca Ramsey, Joseph (Amy) Beck, Zachary (Shay) Beck, Josh (Marcy) Beck, Austin Beck, Rachelle (Paul) Crawford, John Brunette, Renee Brunette, and Raeanne (Luke) Mardigian; 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Elaine Rashid; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, Peter & Nora Rashid and all his brothers and sisters.

Visitation is from 2-4, 6-8 P.M. Friday with the Trisagion at 7:30 P.M. in the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing. Funeral Liturgy will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 4, 2014, at St. Joseph Melkite Greek Catholic Church, 725 W. Mt. Hope, Lansing with Fr. James Graham presiding. Rite of Committal St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
