John Whalen

John Whalen Age 79, passed away on February 12, 2011 in the presence of his family. John was a sales representative for Perry Printing Co. in Lansing for many years, after which he was proprietor of Whalen Enterprises. He was a 1950 graduate of Big Rapids High School and a 1954 graduate of Ferris Institute. He was a faithful "Bulldog" Fan and a member of the FSU Grid Iron Club. John served proudly in the U. S. Army, and has been a longtime active member of St. Gerard Catholic Church. John was married to his high school sweetheart, Sally Rex, for 57 years. He is also survived by his children, Lawrence (Sandra) of Friendswood, TX, Nancy of Lansing, David (Dawn) of Lansing, Michael (Nelly) of Elsa, TX; 9 grandchildren, Peter and Joseph Spadafore, William (Kristin) and Patrick Barrett, Lauren Whalen, Alicia Hoover, Abigail Whalen, Ryan Torres, John Carl Whalen; and great-grandson, Seth Waters. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing.
