

Jon Charles Kreider DeWitt, Michigan Jon Charles Kreider, DeWitt, was born December 12, 1936 in Columbus, OH to Michael and Alice (Beers) Kreider. He died on January 26, 2011. Jon graduated from Okemos High School in 1954, attended Central Michigan University for 2 years before he joined the U.S. Army?s 101st Airborne Division as a paratrooper from 1956-58. He graduated from Earlham College in 1960 and earned a Masters from Michigan State University in 1961. Jon spent 4 years in Idaho, Oregon, and California as a counselor for the U.S. Job Corps. He returned to Okemos in 1969 where he spent over 30 years as a teacher and counselor. Jon is survived by his wife Nancy; sons Shawn of Traverse City, MI and Jason (Jaclynn) of Howell, MI; daughter Nicola (Mark) Bailey of St. Johns, MI; and sisters, Jeanette Kreider (Gary Wattles) of Boise, ID and Janice Kreider (Steve St. Louis) of Williamston, MI; grandchildren Forrest, Nick, and Shaemus Kreider, Caeden, Lane, and Morgan Bailey, and Madelynn, Mylee and Mckynzee Kreider; and many nieces and nephews. Jon was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Jim. Jon enjoyed life, loved music and church, and was beloved and appreciated by many friends, students, colleagues, and especially by his family. Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Redeemer United Methodist Church, 13980 Schavey Road, DeWitt with Pastor Rodney Kalajainen officiating. Visitation will be Friday 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw Street, Lansing. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Jon?s memory can be made to Michigan Parkinson Foundation, 30400 Telegraph Rd, Ste. 150, Bingham Farms, MI 48025 or to Redeemer United Methodist Church.
